It gives importers enough time to reply. If importers reply within a valid time and pay the deposit, suppliers will then issue a commercial invoice. And it is also the proof used for <a href=\"https:\/\/jingsourcing.com\/b-international-payment-methods\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">payment<\/a>.<\/p><p>In <a href=\"\/b-cross-border-ecommerce\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">cross-border business<\/a>, commercial invoices are the core of <a href=\"https:\/\/jingsourcing.com\/b-shipping-documents\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">other documents<\/a>. They should be in line with the information in the commercial invoice. It is mainly for<\/p><ul><li>Goods quotation. Importers could better understand products and <a href=\"https:\/\/jingsourcing.com\/b-what-is-landed-cost\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">landed costs<\/a>.<\/li><li>Applying for importing goods and foreign exchange licenses and issuing letters of credit in some countries. Also, it could be useful for <a href=\"https:\/\/jingsourcing.com\/b-what-is-customs-clearance\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">customs clearance<\/a> in some countries.<\/li><\/ul><p>However, the proforma invoice is not a formal document. It doesn&#8217;t have a legal commitment for both the supplier and the importer.<\/p><p>A commercial invoice is a legally enforceable document. It is issued after the importer has paid the deposit when he confirms the information in the proforma invoice. It helps the importer estimate the taxes and <a href=\"https:\/\/jingsourcing.com\/shipping-from-china-to-us-cost\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">shipping costs<\/a>. If everything is OK, the supplier can accept it.
